Award-winning Dr. Johnson Leads New Word Series

Word Insights with Dr. Johnson

Award-winning author and literacy scholar Dr. Bonnie Johnson will be lending her expertise in a new collaboration with Insight Creative, Inc. In an effort to deliver Communication with substance, Insight will work with Dr. Johnson on an upcoming social media series called “Word Insights” that presents word origin and figurative expressions in a new and creative way. The series, launching later this month on Insight’s social media platforms, will show the true depth—and fun—of the language we use to communicate every day, whether socially in conversation, at a business meeting or in mass communications.

Headshot of Dr. Bonnie Johnson Dr. Bonnie Johnson earned her Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She currently teaches classes in the Departments of Curriculum and Instruction and Education Specialties at St. John’s University in New York City. Dr. Johnson was a public school classroom teacher for 14 years. She was the recipient of the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Distinguished Teacher of Teachers Award and was named an Eminent Literacy Scholar by “The e-Journal of Literacy and Social Responsibility.” Dr. Johnson is the author, coauthor and editor of eight books, numerous book chapters and journal articles, and has coauthored more than 200 instructional texts for elementary, middle school and adult learners. Her research addresses social inequalities in the early years, the impact of poverty on vocabulary acquisition, word origins and histories of figurative expressions.
